A tragic accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, June 30, on the A4 highway in Seine-et-Marne, claiming three victims according to the gendarmerie. Indeed, a tourist plane crashed at 3:45 pm on the central reservation of the highway, between the lanes, after hitting a high-voltage power line. Fortunately, no vehicles were hit by this crash.

“The three occupants of the plane, which had just taken off from Lognes aerodrome, unfortunately lost their lives,” said Meaux prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier to AFP. He specified that the victims were “two men and a woman” and that the plane’s pilot, a Cessna 172, “had held a pilot’s license since 2023 and had accumulated just over 100 flight hours.”

Ongoing investigation

The air transport gendarmerie has been tasked with investigating the circumstances of this accident. At the same time, the Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) has opened an administrative investigation, as indicated by the Meaux public prosecutor’s office.
