On July 10th, a 43-year-old man took his own life after his vehicle was seized, in which the missing teenager’s DNA was found. He is believed to have been driving this car.

The main suspect in the disappearance of Lina, a 15-year-old girl missing since September 23, 2023, has been identified more clearly. He is a 43-year-old man, Samuel G., who committed suicide in Besançon on July 10. Once well integrated, he fell into delinquency and was even hospitalized in psychiatry.

Samuel G., born on September 10, 1980, was a carpenter and woodworking teacher. He was the father of two children and was separated from the mother of his sons. Before his suicide, he left a letter of apology to his family. A neighbor from Besançon remembers him as a good family man, taking care of his children.

In 2023, Samuel G. stopped working and committed violent thefts, which led to his arrest. He was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, with depressive symptoms and a tendency to consume toxic substances.

In January, he was arrested for driving a stolen car. Shortly after, he was sentenced to 15 months of probation. He returned to live in Besançon but committed suicide before his hearing for the thefts committed in 2023.

His suicide coincided with progress in the investigation into Lina’s disappearance. The girl’s DNA was found in a stolen car that Samuel G. was driving when he was arrested in January. Investigators conducted searches in the Vosges region to try to solve the case.

The public prosecutor of Strasbourg emphasized that there is still a lot of investigative work to be done to solve Lina’s disappearance and the possible involvement of Samuel G.
