The suspect involved in the kidnapping and murder of Célya, a 6-year-old girl, was released from custody and placed in forced hospitalization, according to the statements of the prosecutor of Rouen on Sunday, July 14. This 42-year-old man, the partner of Célya’s mother, was seen by a psychiatrist due to his delusional statements during his custody. The doctor observed delusional ideas of persecution, conspiracy, and filiation, as well as injunctive and hetero-aggressive hallucinations.
Found dead in a forest
Célya was found dead in a forest in Seine-Maritime late on Friday evening, after the Amber Alert was issued. The main suspect, the partner of her mother, was arrested early on Saturday morning. He was placed in custody as part of the investigation opened for “attempted murder of a spouse,” “kidnapping of a minor under 15 years old,” and “murder of a minor under 15 years old.”
The prosecutor also stated that the judicial process will continue with the opening of a judicial investigation, which aims to clarify the sequence of events and the criminal responsibility of the suspect, given his psychiatric disorders.
