Tchassiv Iar is a city of great strategic importance, on which the Russian army has been focusing its efforts for several months in order to achieve a major advance in eastern Ukraine.
Russia claims conquest of strategic district in Ukraine
Russia announced on Wednesday, July 3, that it had taken control of a first district of the city of Tchassiv Iar, a strategic city that it has been seeking to conquer for several months in the hope of a decisive advance in eastern Ukraine.
This takeover would allow Russian troops, positioned at a higher elevation, to more easily reach the city of Kramatorsk with their cannons, the largest mining city in the region and an important Ukrainian military base on this front. Furthermore, at least five people were killed in a new bombing in Dnipro, a large city in central Ukraine.
Liberation of the Noviï district by Russian soldiers
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian soldiers had “liberated the Noviï district,” located on the eastern outskirts of Tchassiv Iar. This city, located in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, holds major strategic importance militarily.
According to the Telegram channel DeepState, composed of open-source researchers close to Kiev, this district was reportedly “completely razed” and would be pointless to insist on holding it, as this would only result in “increased losses.”
