Closure of investigation on fundraising for the family of the policeman who killed Nahel
The justice system has decided to close the investigation into the fundraising for the family of the policeman who killed young Nahel, according to information provided by the Paris prosecutor’s office on Friday, July 5. The family of the young man who died in June 2023 in Nanterre had filed a complaint, particularly for “organized fraud,” denouncing “fraudulent maneuvers” and “lies” by the initiator of the fundraiser, former member of the National Front Jean Messiha, accused of trying to deceive donors to collect funds.
Jean Messiha had been questioned as a free suspect in November as part of the investigation entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Fraudulent Crime. He justified the creation of the fundraiser by claiming to want to support the family of the Nanterre policeman, Florian M., who had been in pre-trial detention for five months.
According to information from Le Monde newspaper, the amount raised, exceeding 1.6 million euros, was finally paid to Florian M. However, the latter claimed not to have touched this money, according to his lawyer quoted by the newspaper.
