Para-atheletics: A New Era of Competition and Inclusion

Handisport Open Paris 2024: A Memorable and Promising Edition

Paris, June 23, 2024 – The French Handisport Federation (FFH) is proud to announce the resounding success of the 2024 edition of the Handisport Open Paris (HOP). This event, which took place at Stade Charléty, brought together over 30,000 spectators in total, offering two days of exceptional performances and unforgettable moments.

High-Level Performances and Records Broken

The Handisport Open Paris 2024 saw the participation of 400 world-class athletes, who converged on the blue track of Stade Charléty, one year after the para athletics world championships. Among the headliners, Dimitri Pavadé made a triumphant return to competition after an injury, reaching the A standards with a jump of 7.02m. Timothée Adolphe, guided by Jeffrey Lami, set a European record in 50:03, while Dimitri Jozwicki, Marie Ngoussou, and Nantenin Keita also shone with their performances.

Enthusiastic and Supportive Audience

The French athletes, eight of whom are already selected for the Paralympic Games, were cheered on by a large and enthusiastic audience. The spectators, with their energy and support, played a crucial role in encouraging the athletes to excel and achieve high-level performances.

Successful Job Forum

Alongside the competitions, the handisport job forum welcomed 2,000 participants at 66 stands, offering coaching sessions, roundtable discussions, and meetings with labor law specialists. This space helped strengthen the ties between athletes and the professional world, contributing to their integration and fulfillment.

Statements from Guy Ontanon, Performance Manager

Guy Ontanon, Performance Manager, stated: “A few weeks before the Paris Games, we saw personal records broken and several athletes achieve A and/or B standards, a very good sign. The public allowed the athletes to transcend themselves in a stadium made for athletics. We have once again seen a united French team, with a new mindset that unites the entire team. On June 16, we will know how many spots are allocated to us by the International Federation and the official selection for the Games will be revealed following the French Championships in Albi (July 13-14).”
