Max Platform: Warner Bros. Discovery is launching a premium catalog.

On June 11, Warner Bros. Discovery announced the launch of its brand new streaming platform, named Max. The company’s president, Clément Schwebig, stated that this platform will offer exclusive and original content that will captivate viewers.

The launch of the Max streaming platform in France

A year ago, the Max streaming platform was launched in the United States. On Tuesday, June 11, it made its debut in France. Clément Schwebig, president of Warner Bros Discovery Western Europe & Africa, expressed his enthusiasm about this arrival in France: “We’re ready. We launched in 65 other countries around the world, we have nearly 100 million subscribers. And yesterday, we launched in France.”

Facing an already saturated streaming market, some may doubt Max’s ability to carve out a space. But Clément Schwebig asserts: “I don’t think so. We are entering a clearly mature market where the consumer knows what they want.” He promises to meet this demand by leveraging the exceptional legacy of the Warner Bros studio, with films ranging from Casablanca to Mad Max, as well as works by Stanley Kubrick, Clint Eastwood, the Matrix series, and many others.

With 12,500 titles available to viewers, along with HBO content, Max offers a wide range of choices. Viewers will find iconic series such as The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Friends, as well as original French series, including the adaptation of the book by Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur, Living with Our Dead.

Emphasizing quality over quantity

According to Clément Schwebig, Max is not just another streaming platform. It focuses on the quality of the content offered. Leveraging HBO’s expertise in this area, he states that “The strategy is not quantity, it’s quality.” Max will also adopt a broadcasting schedule based on regular appointments, similar to traditional television.

Sports fans will also be catered to on Max, as they will have year-round access to competitions broadcast on Eurosport, owned by the same group. Major sporting events such as the Australian Open, US Open, Giro d’Italia, Vuelta a España, 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as the Olympics in their entirety will be offered to subscribers. Clément Schwebig also announces numerous features, alerts, and ways to revisit the content.
