Breeder suspected of vandalizing and tagging town halls in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques

The owner of these lands, who is not part of a agricultural union organization, is also suspected of being responsible for the insulting graffiti present on the town hall of Macaye.

A livestock farmer was placed in custody after tearing off the entrance door of the town hall of Hasparren in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. This information was reported by a police source and relayed by franceinfo on Monday, January 29th.

The farmer in question, who is not part of any agricultural union organization, is also suspected of having made insulting tags against the mayor on the town hall of Macaye. On Sunday morning, the door of the town hall of Hasparren had been found broken down.

The mayor, Isabelle Pargarde, expressed her shock on the matter stating that she was “under shock” and that she intended to file a complaint early in the week. In addition, tags had also been reported on the facade of the town hall of Macaye.

The prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques strongly condemned these acts of vandalism and announced the opening of an investigation to identify those responsible for these “serious attacks on the republican symbols that are town halls”.
