Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the prefecture of Bouches-du-Rhône has decided to close access to 26 forest areas in the department for Sunday. The prefecture of the Bouches-du-Rhône department announced in a statement that the 26 forest areas will be closed to the public on Sunday, August 18. This measure aims to prevent any risk of fire in the region.

The forest areas affected by this prohibition are: Alpilles, Arbois, Chambremont, Chaîne des Côtes, Concors, Castillon, Côte Bleue, Collines de Gardanne, Calanques, Cap Canaille, Etoile, Grand Caunet, Garlaban, Lançon, Les Roques, Montagnette, Montaiguet, Pont de Rhaud, Quatre Termes, Rougadou, Reganas, Trévaresse, Sulauze, Sainte-Victoire, Zip de Fos.

The prefecture justified this measure due to a very high risk of fire for Sunday. Indeed, the mistral wind will blow quite strongly, with gusts of up to 75 km/h in the afternoon and overnight.

It is important to remember that nine out of ten forest fires are of human origin, and half of them are due to carelessness. It is therefore essential to respect safety instructions and not to endanger the forest areas.
